The visuals for the One Planet film were created by researching the NASA and ESA archives for photographs where mankind's impact was clearly visible from space. These included deforestation and forest fires, water usage, agriculture, smog, coastal pollution and the impacts of climate change on glaciers and polar ice.

Change the way you think about food, we are literally eating the planet. Today we use 1/3 of the planet's surface to produce food, by 2050 we will need twice as much food. Today it takes one litre of water to create one calorie of food. What will it be in the future? Can we use less water and less fertilisers?

WWF floated an 11 metre western gray whale down the River Thames this week, to highlight the plight faced by one of the world's most endangered whales. With as few as 130 whales, the western gray whale teeters on the edge of extinction. Their critical feeding ground off the coast of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East, is now under threat. WWF is stepping in to try and help. You can help them too.

WWF's Earth Hour is a simple idea that's quickly turned into a global phenomenon. Hundreds of millions of people turning off their lights for one hour, on the same night, all across the planet. It's about appreciating the brilliant world we all share and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day. Have a look at our short film to find out more. Sign up to say you'll be switching off at wwf.org.uk/earthhour.
